Tasting notes
Drawn from our heritage Cabernet Sauvignon blocks planted in the early 1990s, this 2022 vintage is a striking portrait of elegance and depth. The bouquet opens in luminous layers — bright cherry and crushed raspberry glide into cooling menthol and a whisper of delicate florals. Beneath it all lingers the evocative scent of a Pacific Northwest forest after rain: damp earth, evergreen and fresh air.

On the palate, the wine is both polished and powerful. Silken tannins cradle a structured core of deep blue fruits — blackberry, blueberry and dark plum — interwoven with notes of Earl Grey tea and subtle spice. A vibrant, mouth-coating acidity brings lift and energy, keeping the richness poised and precise.

The finish is long, graceful and quietly commanding, unfolding in waves that hint at remarkable longevity. Built for patience, this Cabernet will continue to evolve and deepen over the next 10 to 15 years. Pair with braised beef short ribs glazed in red wine reduction or a warmly spiced mushroom and lentil tagine to draw out its savory nuance and layered complexity.

96 Points - Owen Bargreen: The sensational 2022 Woodward Canyon ‘Old Vines Estate' Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from estate blocks that were planted in the early 90s. This is deep, rich and filled with mouth-coating acidity. A great core of black and blue fruits collide with pencil lead and Earl Grey tea notes. Not fully developed — but showing some incredible potential — let this rest for at least another year. Drink 2026-2042

100% Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard: Established in 1976, Woodward Canyon is currently the western most vineyard in Walla Walla Valley AVA, roughly 15 miles west of Walla Walla Washington. Ritzville silt loam over fractured basalt, slope 15-18%. 750-850ft elevation. Managed by Woodward Canyon Winery.
